How do I add AnkiDecks to Claude?
In Claude, open Customize › Connectors, click + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it AnkiDecks, paste https://ankidecks.ai/mcp, click Add and sign in. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.
Is this an Anki MCP server?
Yes, one that runs online. Most Anki MCP servers need Anki open on your computer, the AnkiConnect add-on and a config file. With AnkiDecks you paste one address and install nothing. When the deck is ready, you download it for Anki.
I use Claude through my school or work. Can I add it?
On Team and Enterprise plans, only an admin can add connectors. Ask them to add https://ankidecks.ai/mcp under Organization settings › Connectors. Then click Connect under Customize › Connectors.
Do I need a paid Claude plan?
No. Claude's free plan allows one custom connector.
Is AnkiDecks in Claude's directory?
It's submitted and in review. You don't have to wait: add it with the address above. It takes a minute.
Does it cost anything?
It's free to start: 3 decks a month on the Free plan. Paid plans give you more decks and bigger files.
Do I need Anki open or an add-on?
No. Nothing to install. Download the finished deck and open it in Anki on any device.
Can Claude see my whole file?
Not when you pick it in the upload box. The file goes straight to AnkiDecks, and Claude gets a short summary. If you attach a short file in the chat instead, Claude reads it and passes the text on.
Which files work?
PDF, PowerPoint, Word, photos of notes, pasted text and YouTube links.
Can I paste notes or a YouTube link instead?
Yes. Paste the text or the link in the chat and ask Claude for cards.
Where do I check and edit the cards?
On ankidecks.ai. Claude gives you a link when the deck is ready.
Can Claude show my decks?
Yes. Ask "show my decks" and Claude lists your recent decks with their links.
Does it work in the Claude phone app?
Yes, once you've added it on a computer.
