Image occlusion, no drawing
Labels on your diagrams are found for you and covered with boxes. Anki asks one at a time, the others hidden too.
Tables become cards
Origin, insertion, action and nerve tables are read too, so each muscle gets its own cards.
Fix boxes in a tap
Remove a box you don't need to learn, or a whole diagram, on the Review screen before you download.
Quote and page on text cards
Every text card shows the line it came from, so you can check it against your slide.

What's under the box?
- Cloze
In muscle naming, the prefix supra-c1 means above, while infra-c2 means below.
supra- (above); infra- (below); sub- (under or beneath); lateralis (lateral).

Muscles that move the shoulder and arm include the trapezius and serratus anterior.
How to learn anatomy with Anki
Image occlusion for where things are, text cards for what they do.
Image occlusion for structures
Every label is covered and Anki asks one at a time, so neighboring labels can't give the answer away.
Text cards for actions and nerves
One fact per card. Cloze for short lists, such as the muscles that move the arm.
One region at a time
A subdeck per region. Bones, then muscles, then nerves and vessels, before moving on.
Before a lab practical
Add diagrams from more than one view, and review the region daily the week before.
Settings for image occlusion
Each box is its own card, so keep new cards a day lower than for text decks. Turn on FSRS in Deck options and keep desired retention at 90%, Anki's default. Keep learning steps short, such as 10m.
Free to start. Pro when you study every day.
Free is enough to try it on a few lectures. Pro covers one or two classes every week, Max every class.

Questions
How does the image occlusion work?
Diagrams with at least three labels become image occlusion cards. Typed labels are taken straight from your file; labels inside a picture are found by AI. Each label is one card in Anki.
Can I use pictures from an atlas?
You can upload your own material, including pages you have the right to use for your own study. The cards stay in your account and your Anki.
How many image occlusion cards can I make?
Free makes 20 diagrams a month, Pro 300, and Max is unlimited.
Does it work with Anki on my phone?
Yes. You download a normal .apkg deck. It opens in Anki on a computer, AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid, with no add-ons. Image occlusion cards need Anki 23.10 or newer.
Is it free?
Yes. Free makes 3 decks a month from files up to 15 pages. Pro ($7.99 a month) makes 50 decks a month from files up to 100 pages. Downloading to Anki is never paywalled.
