Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Free makes 3 decks a month, each from up to 15 pages of notes (about 7,500 words). Pro ($7.99 a month) makes 50 decks a month from up to 100 pages each. Downloading to Anki is never paywalled.
How much can I paste at once?
About 500 words count as one page. Free takes up to 15 pages per deck (about 7,500 words), Pro 100 and Max 200. More than that? Split your notes into a few decks.
Does it work with Google Docs, OneNote and Notion?
Yes. Select the text, copy it and paste it into the Text tab. A Google Doc also works as a file: File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx), then upload that.
I already wrote question-and-answer toggles in Notion
Then you don't need AI for those: our free Notion to Anki converter turns each toggle into a card, right in your browser.
What about handwritten notes?
Take a photo or scan them and upload that instead. The handwriting is read for you, and each card still shows the line it came from.
Does the formatting of my notes matter?
No. Headings, bullet points and short lines all work. Cards come out in the language of your notes, or in the one you choose.
Can't I just use ChatGPT?
You can: paste your notes, ask for cards, then copy them into Anki. Our free ChatGPT prompt tool writes a good prompt for that. What it won't do is check each card against your notes. AnkiDecks keeps a card only if its quote is really in what you pasted, and gives you a deck that opens in Anki straight away.
Does it work on AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid?
Yes. You download a normal .apkg deck. It opens in Anki on a computer, AnkiMobile and AnkiDroid, with no add-ons. Image occlusion cards need Anki 23.10 or newer.
