- 1Put the question in one column and the answer in another (a tags column is optional). Save as .csv or .xlsx, or just copy the cells.
- 2Upload the file or paste the cells. We guess which column is which from the header; change it if needed.
- 3Check the preview and download the .apkg. Double-click it to open in Anki.
Good to know
- Works with .csv, .tsv, .txt, .xlsx, .xls and .ods. Excel files use the first sheet.
- Headers like Front / Back, Question / Answer or Term / Definition are recognized automatically.
- A tags column turns into Anki tags (separate them with spaces or commas).
- {{c1::…}} in the front column makes a cloze card. Commas inside answers are kept, and so are line breaks in CSV files (in .xlsx they become spaces).
- NotebookLM: download your flashcards as CSV in NotebookLM, then upload that file here.
- Up to 5,000 cards per file.
When a CSV comes out wrong
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Accents or symbols turn into odd characters (é instead of é) | The file isn't saved as UTF-8. In Excel, choose File → Save As → "CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited)", or just upload the .xlsx. |
| An answer is cut off at a comma | That cell needs double quotes around it, like "sodium, potassium, chloride". Excel and Google Sheets add them when they save. A quote inside a cell is written twice (""). |
| Everything lands in one column | Pick the separator yourself (tab, comma or semicolon) instead of letting us guess. |
| Line breaks inside a cell are gone | In .xlsx files they become spaces. Save the sheet as CSV to keep them. |
| You'd rather use Anki's own importer | File → Import takes a UTF-8 CSV too. Since Anki 2.1.54, lines like #separator:Comma and #tags column:3 at the top of the file set the import options for you. |

Questions
How do I get NotebookLM flashcards into Anki?
In NotebookLM, open your flashcards and download them as a CSV file. Upload it here, check that Front and Back are the right columns, and download the .apkg.
Can I paste from Google Sheets?
Yes. Select the cells, copy, and paste them into the box. Cells are separated by tabs, which we detect automatically.
My file has more than two columns. What happens?
Pick which column is the front, which is the back and (optionally) which holds tags. Other columns are ignored.
Is it really free? Do you keep my cards?
Yes, free, with no sign-up. Everything happens in your browser: your cards and files never leave your device.
How do I open the .apkg in Anki?
Double-click the file, or in Anki choose File → Import and pick it. On AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, open the file from your downloads (or share it to the app).
Will importing twice make duplicates?
No. The same front and back always get the same id, so Anki updates the card instead of adding a copy.
Can I make cloze cards?
Yes. Write blanks the Anki way, like {{c1::ATP}} is made in the {{c2::mitochondria}}, and they become cloze cards.
