Which classes count as science
- AMCAS (MD) and TMDSAS (Texas): biology, chemistry, physics and math, statistics included. That's BCPM.
- AACOMAS (DO): biology, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry, physics and other sciences. Math doesn't count as science here.
- "Other science" (geology, astronomy and similar) counts as science for DO schools only.
- Psychology and sociology aren't science in any of the three.
- Every attempt of a retaken class counts in all three.
- This is an estimate. The official number comes from the application service after verification.

Questions
What does BCPM stand for?
Biology, chemistry, physics and math. It's the science GPA that AMCAS and TMDSAS calculate.
Is biochemistry BCPM?
Yes. AMCAS counts it as BCPM, and AACOMAS counts it as science.
Does statistics count in BCPM?
Yes for AMCAS and TMDSAS, because it's math. AACOMAS doesn't count math in the science GPA.
Why is my DO science GPA different?
AACOMAS leaves math out and adds "other sciences", so the same transcript gives a different science GPA.
Is a 3.5 science GPA good for med school?
It depends on the school and the rest of your application. Many MD matriculants are above that, so look at each school's numbers.
