- 1In StudySmarter, open the flashcard set, tap ⋯ in the top right and choose Export flashcards. You get a CSV file.
- 2Upload it here (or paste the cells). Check that the question and answer columns are right.
- 3Download the .apkg and double-click it to open it in Anki.
Good to know
- StudySmarter's export is a Premium feature and covers sets you made yourself (StudySmarter help center).
- The export is plain text: formatting, formulas and pictures stay in StudySmarter.
- No Premium? Copy your questions and answers into two spreadsheet columns, then paste them here.
- Column names in English, German, Spanish or French (Frage / Antwort, Pregunta / Respuesta…) are recognized.
Getting pictures and formulas back in Anki
StudySmarter's export is text only, so a card that leaned on a diagram or an equation arrives with that part missing. Fix those in Anki after you import: open Browse, click the card, and paste the picture into the field (or add it with the paper-clip button). For formulas, Anki has MathJax built in. Type \(x^2 + 1\) for a formula inside a sentence, or \[E = mc^2\] for one on its own line. It works on AnkiMobile and on AnkiDroid 2.9 or newer too, with nothing to install.

Questions
Why don't I see "Export flashcards"?
StudySmarter only offers it with Premium, and only for sets you made yourself. Without it, copy the questions and answers into two columns and paste them here.
StudySmarter is called Vaia now. Does this still work?
Yes. The App Store lists the app as Vaia (by StudySmarter). The export works the same way: open the set, tap ⋯ and choose Export flashcards.
Does my StudySmarter progress come along?
No. The export has the text of the cards only, so every card starts as new in Anki.
Is it really free? Do you keep my cards?
Yes, free, with no sign-up. Everything happens in your browser: your cards and files never leave your device.
How do I open the .apkg in Anki?
Double-click the file, or in Anki choose File → Import and pick it. On AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, open the file from your downloads (or share it to the app).
Will importing twice make duplicates?
No. The same front and back always get the same id, so Anki updates the card instead of adding a copy.
Can I make cloze cards?
Yes. Write blanks the Anki way, like {{c1::ATP}} is made in the {{c2::mitochondria}}, and they become cloze cards.
