Notion to Anki converter

Paste your Notion toggles or upload the export. Each toggle becomes a card: the title on the front, what's inside on the back.

What are your cards in?

Each toggle is a card: its title is the front, what's inside is the back.

1 Add your cards

Or drop Notion's export here: .zip, .html or .md (up to 300 MB).

Nested toggles become their own cards. Toggle headings and the page title become tags.

2 Check your cards

Your cards show up here as soon as you paste or upload them.

3 Download

Use :: for a sub-deck, e.g. Pharmacology::Antibiotics.

How to turn Notion toggles into Anki cards

  1. 1In Notion, select your toggles and copy them (Ctrl+C or ⌘C), then paste here. Or click ⋯ → Export → HTML and upload the .zip.
  2. 2Check the cards: nested toggles become their own cards, toggle headings and the page title become tags.
  3. 3Download the .apkg and double-click it to open it in Anki.

Good to know

  • Pictures come along when you upload the HTML export (.zip). Copied pictures link to Notion, which Anki can't open.
  • A toggle with nothing inside but `inline code` in its title becomes a cloze card: each code bit is one blank. {{c1::…}} written in the title works too.
  • Bold, italics, lists and tables inside a toggle stay as they are.
  • Cards in a Notion table instead? Switch to Database: export it as CSV (⋯ → Export → Markdown & CSV) and pick the front and back columns.

Questions

Does it work with toggle headings and nested toggles?

Yes. Every toggle with something inside becomes a card, nested ones too. A toggle that only holds other toggles is treated as a group, and toggle headings become tags on the cards under them.

Why HTML and not Markdown?

Both work. The HTML export keeps formatting and pictures most reliably; Markdown keeps the text and pictures when you upload the whole .zip.

What if a toggle is empty?

It's skipped, and the count shows how many. The exception is a toggle with inline code in its title, which becomes a cloze card.

Is it really free? Do you keep my cards?

Yes, free, with no sign-up. Everything happens in your browser: your cards and files never leave your device.

How do I open the .apkg in Anki?

Double-click the file, or in Anki choose File → Import and pick it. On AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, open the file from your downloads (or share it to the app).

Will importing twice make duplicates?

No. The same front and back always get the same id, so Anki updates the card instead of adding a copy.

Can I make cloze cards?

Yes. Write blanks the Anki way, like {{c1::ATP}} is made in the {{c2::mitochondria}}, and they become cloze cards.
