Good to know
- Brainscape's export is a Pro feature. It gives a file that opens in Excel, which you can upload here as it is.
- Formatting kept as HTML (bold, lists) stays; scripts are removed.
- Your Brainscape confidence ratings don't transfer: every card starts as new in Anki.
From Brainscape's 1–5 to Anki's four buttons
Brainscape asks how confident you are, from 1 (the card comes back often) to 5 (it comes back later). Anki asks a simpler question: did you remember it? Press Again if you didn't, and the card comes back soon. Hard means you got it, but slowly or with doubts. Good means you got it with some effort, and the Anki manual says that should be your answer about 80–95% of the time. Easy is for answers that took no effort at all. Used Smart Study to mix decks? In Anki, put the decks inside one parent deck and click the parent: Anki studies a deck together with every deck inside it.

Can I export from Brainscape without Pro?
No. Brainscape's export is a Pro feature. Without Pro, copy your questions and answers into two spreadsheet columns, save as CSV and upload it here, or paste the cells straight in.
My Brainscape file has more than two columns. Which do I pick?
Pick the column with the question text as Front and the answer text as Back. Other columns (like card numbers) are ignored.
Is it really free? Do you keep my cards?
Yes, free, with no sign-up. Everything happens in your browser: your cards and files never leave your device.
How do I open the .apkg in Anki?
Double-click the file, or in Anki choose File → Import and pick it. On AnkiMobile or AnkiDroid, open the file from your downloads (or share it to the app).
Will importing twice make duplicates?
No. The same front and back always get the same id, so Anki updates the card instead of adding a copy.
Can I make cloze cards?
Yes. Write blanks the Anki way, like {{c1::ATP}} is made in the {{c2::mitochondria}}, and they become cloze cards.
